When you contact us or instruct us to act on your behalf, we may collect your name, address, date of birth, and contact details; details of your legal matter and any supporting documents you provide; financial information for billing and anti-money laundering purposes; and identification documents such as a passport or driving licence for identity verification purposes.
1.2 Information We Collect Automatically
When you visit our websites, we automatically collect certain technical information including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent on pages, and device information. This data is collected via cookies and similar technologies. Please see Section 8 below for our Cookie Notice.
1.3 Information We Receive From Third Parties
In the course of handling your legal matter, we may receive personal information about you from courts, tribunals, the police, the Crown Prosecution Service, the DVLA, HMRC, medical professionals, expert witnesses, and other parties to legal proceedings and their representatives.

2. Why We Use Your Information
We only process your personal data where we have a lawful basis for doing so under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018:
  • Providing legal services — we process your data as necessary to perform our agreement with you.
  • Identity and anti-money laundering checks — we are required by law to verify your identity under the Money Laundering Regulations 2017.
  • Complying with court orders and SRA obligations — we process data as required by law and our regulatory obligations as a regulated legal practice.
  • Keeping you informed about your matter — we use your contact details to provide updates on your case.
  • Marketing communications — only where you have opted in to receive these. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Improving our websites and services — we process analytics data in our legitimate interests as a business.
  • Crime prevention and safeguarding — where applicable, we may process data under the Recognised Legitimate Interest provisions introduced by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.

3. Who We Share Your Information With
We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We may share your information with courts, barristers, and expert witnesses in connection with your matter; opposing parties and their legal representatives as required by court procedure; the police, CPS, and other regulatory or government authorities where legally required; DVLA, HMRC, and Companies House where relevant; IT service providers and case management system operators under strict data processing agreements; our professional indemnity insurers; and the Solicitors Regulation Authority where required by our regulatory obligations. All third parties with whom we share personal data are required to handle it in accordance with applicable data protection law.

4. How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and in accordance with our legal and regulatory obligations:
  • Client files (general matters): 6 years from conclusion of the matter
  • Client files (property or wills): 12 years or longer where required
  • Anti-money laundering records: 5 years from the end of the business relationship
  • Website enquiry and contact form data: 12 months from last contact
  • Marketing consent records: until consent is withdrawn, and for 3 years thereafter
At the end of the relevant retention period, your data is securely deleted or destroyed.

5. Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
  • Right of access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — you may ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure — you may ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to restrict processing — you may ask us to pause processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability — you may request your data in a structured, portable format.
  • Right to object — you may object to processing based on our legitimate interests or for direct marketing.

6. Data Protection Complaints
Under the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, effective 19 June 2026, you have a statutory right to complain to us directly if you believe we have mishandled your personal data. We are legally required to acknowledge your complaint within 30 days.
