Our Fees

We do our very best to ensure transparency in all our fees and we find the best way is to agree a fixed fee from the outset to ensure you keep costs under control and within budget.

For most types of cases, we are likely to be able to agree a fixed fee based on each particular case and its requirements.

If there is a type of case or matter not covered in our fees list, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to discuss your case and agree a suitable fee.  We understand that fees can seem daunting and that we all need to budget for outgoings.  To assist, we are likely to be able to offer a payment plan to avoid a significant initial outlay.

The following are provided as a guide, we believe that particularly given our expertise, knowledge and experience our fees are extremely competitive. Please note, the guide below does not include any expert fees and disbursements.

Should I plead guilty or not guilty and do I have a defence?

In all cases we will of course go through the case with you in detail to ensure we obtain all the relevant facts and circumstances and explore every potential defence that may be available to you. Any initial fee paid will include the consideration of the evidence that we have available, taking a full Proof of Evidence from you and advising you on the law and the prospects of a successful trial.  Where there is no defence, you will be advised accordingly on sentencing and mitigation, including the potential for any legal arguments such as Special Reasons and Exceptional Hardship.

Trials – Not Guilty Pleas

The fee that we charge for a trial will vary depending on a number of features including the number of charges, the complexity of the case, whether experts are required, the length of the case, and the number of hearings required before trial.  As a guide our Magistrates Court trial fees typically range from £5000 £7,500 + VAT. The same fees apply for Special Reasons trials.

The fees for trials in the Crown Court will depend on the nature and complexity of the case, the amount and type of evidence, whether any experts are involved and the length of the case. Trials typically will start at £5000 + VAT which will include attendance with you to go through the case, full consideration of the papers and exploration of the potential defences, preparation for attendance at a first hearing and usually the pre-trial review hearing. The fee will also include taking instructions and statements from you and any witnesses, instructing any required expert/s, drafting a Defence Case Statement and attending the first day of a trial.  Further days of a trial and any additional hearings to those already mentioned will then attract an additional daily fee of £500 + VAT.

Guilty Pleas

If, after a thorough review of your case, you intend to plead guilty, we will arrange a meeting where we can obtain your full mitigation and assist in helping you prepare testimonials and references for court. We can also assist with collating your financial information where required. Your fixed fee for a guilty plea also includes us fully preparing your sentencing hearing by allowing us to consider sentencings guidelines along with precedents and case law where appropriate. This allows for the fullest information to put before the Court in order to obtain the most favourable outcome in your case.

We will attend you at Court in good time for the hearing and run through all matters in advance of the hearing and present the Plea in Mitigation at Court.  We will ensure that throughout we will be available to discuss any concerns you have and answer your questions and assist with the case.

For a guilty plea and sentence involving a single hearing in either the Magistrates Court or the Crown Court, the fee is £2000+ VAT. Any additional hearing dates are usually charged at £500 + VAT.

If you are pleading guilty to an offence but wish to argue that you should not be punish with penalty points or disqualified, we may be able to argue special reasons – see trial fee structure above

If you have previously been disqualified but wish for us to make an application for the early removal of a driving disqualification –  £2000 + VAT.

Pre charge advice

We understand that where you are under suspicion of an offence or are being investigated by the police it can be a worrying time. In these circumstances, it is often best to be pragmatic and do everything that can be done to prevent a charge from being brought by the police.  For this reason, we offer a service where we can assist in collating evidence and making written submissions to the police to avoid charges altogether.

Where you are invited to the police station to be interviewed, or you are aware of an impending arrest, we can also attend the police station with you to ensure you receive the correct specialist advice at the earliest stage.

Police Station attendance with you for interview £1000 + VAT.

Collating and arranging written submissions to the police prior to charge from £750 + VAT.

Please note that travel expenses and waiting times are included within the fees.
