Why instruct a Private Criminal Lawyer?

Whilst we have undertaken Legally Aided work in the past, we have chosen not to do so at Lostock Legal so that we can dedicate sufficient time to your case and ensure that we are not under the pressures of time that many legal aid solicitors can be under. We will be thorough when handling your case and we have found that by doing things properly we are able to provide clients with the representation thar they deserve and obtain much more favourable outcomes.

We will ensure that we are available to speak with you and guide you through what we understand can be a very difficult and unnerving time.

Why instruct our private criminal defence service?

At Lostock Legal we offer representation in the Magistrates and the Crown Court on a private paying basis. We offer a bespoke service backed by years of dedicated experience and our team is available and accessible every step of the way.  This means that you can be confident that your case is in safe hands.

You will remain informed throughout, and we tailor our strategies to fit your unique circumstances. We understand it is not just about representation at the police station or at Court, it is about the additional stressors that come with being subject to criminal proceedings.

We take proactive steps to secure your acquittal instead of reacting to developments as and when they come. We anticipate any potential challenges, and this foresight often makes a difference between winning or losing a case.

You will be guaranteed continuity and consistency from the initial consultation to court appearances, and you will be advised exclusively throughout by Solicitors who have a wealth of experience working within criminal law.

How much would this cost?

The truth is if your income is over a certain threshold (gross income of £12,475 per year) then you would not qualify for legal aid in the Magistrates Court and the grant of Legal Aid is means tested in the Crown Court, often resulting in a monthly contribution during the lifetime of the proceedings. The contributions under this scheme can be more than the cost of instructing solicitors privately.

We would be able to save you costs as we have our own in-house Advocates who can represent you at every stage, including at the Crown Court. This would dramatically reduce your fees and allow you access to this service from the start. That being said, you also have the option of choosing your advocate as a private payer, so if there is a particular Barrister that you would favour, we will do our upmost to instruct them to work alongside us.
